Local Bike Organizations

BicycLincoln

BicycLincoln is a community group that supports and promotes bicycling in the city of Lincoln. Their mission is to provide information and a unified voice for bicycle advocacy in an effort to make cycling in Lincoln more friendly, safe, easy, accepted, and “so that more people bike and bike more often.”

Great Plains Trail Network (GPTN)

The Great Plains Trails Network is a group of citizens who advocate and support a network of trails in and around Lincoln and Lancaster County, Nebraska, for jogging, biking, walking and horseback riding.

Lincoln Bike Kitchen

The Lincoln Bike Kitchen provides refurbished bikes and parts to community members. Their goal is to make it so anyone that wants to be biking can be, for free. By combining free access to professional tools with a team of knowledgeable and dedicated volunteers, they also aim to help others develop the basic maintenance skills that will keep their bikes rolling for a lifetime.

Trails Have Our Respect

THOR is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to developing and maintaining sustainable off-road recreational trails in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa by providing expertise, manpower, and resources. In addition, they are the local chapter of the International Mountain Bike Association.

Nebraska Bicycling Alliance

The mission of the Nebraska Bicycling Alliance is to promote health and safety for all who ride bicycles in Nebraska..

Lincoln Parks and Recreation

The Lincoln Parks and Recreation department provides a great infrastructure of trails and outdoor spaces for public use. Bicycle related events happen frequently in city parks. Whether it be cyclocross, criteriums, road races, or just an afternoon ride their facilities are an integral part of the Lincoln bicycling experience.

Great Plains Bicycle Club (GPBC)

The Great Plains Bicycling Club is Lincoln, Nebraska’s recreational bicycling club. They organize rides in and around Lincoln, promote cycling and bicycle safety, publish a newsletter, and much more. All recreational riders are welcome to join on their rides and other activities.

UNL Cycling Club and Team

The second coolest club on campus (Bike UNL being the first). Organized by students, the UNL Cycling Club holds club activities and is the resident bicycle racing team for UNL. 

 

Nebraska NICA

The Nebraska Interscholastic Cycling League was founded in 2019 as a non-profit (501(c)3) Emergent League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). We facilitate the development of high school and middle school teams/clubs for grades 6-12 and provide the education, training, licensing, and insurance for coaches and volunteers. We also produce high-quality mountain bike events and races that emphasize the value of participation, camaraderie, positive sporting behavior and well-being over competition.

The Nebraska Sandhills Randonneurs host ACP and RUSA sanctioned long-distance bicycle rides in and around the Sandhills region of our vast midwestern plains state.

The League of American Bicyclists

The League of American Bicyclists is a national organization that promotes bicycling for fun, fitness, and transportation and work through advocacy and education for a bicycle-friendly America.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center is funded by the Federal Highway Administration and has the mission of improving the quality of life in communities through the increase of safe walking and bicycling as a viable means of transportation and physical activity.

National Center for Biking and Walking

The National Center for Bicycling & Walking is a resident program at Project for Public Spaces, Inc. NCBW's mission is to create bicycle-friendly and walkable communities.

PeopleForBikes

PeopleForBikes is the movement to make bike riding better for everyone. Their goal is to make every bike ride better, whether that ride takes you on trails, down to the grocery store, or all the way across town. By collaborating with millions of individual riders, businesses, community leaders, and elected officials, they are uniting people to create a powerful, united voice for bicycling and its benefits.
